German Shepherd Stuck in the L.A. River

Just two days before the Hope For Paws office was destroyed, we received a text about a German Shepherd stuck in the L.A. River for many days. The closest entry point to this segment of the L.A. River was many miles away, but as soon as Cesar spotted him and threw food down, Cobra stayed at the same location.

Loreta Frankonyte told our little Paddington (who doesn't like to stay alone) that this was important and that she had to go with me. Being a rescued dog himself, he understands that, and today, he asks that you watch his Valentine's Day video: https://www.instagram.com/xoxopaddington πŸ’ž

Just two days before the rescue, I bought a hand winch, and it was just perfect for this rescue because lifting him without it would have been a nightmare! πŸ₯΅

After going down to the river, I had to walk towards the dog and hope he wouldn't bolt and run for miles.

I don't want to give the story away... it's best to just watch.

The timing of this rescue was perfect because heavy rains started in Los Angeles last week, and the river is now full of water! This place gets flooded really fast!

Cobra did have an old collar that used to have an Apple AirTag on it, but the AirTag was long gone, and because he doesn't have a microchip, I had no way to track his owners (I looked at all the websites available for finding lost pets, and couldn't find him anywhere).

Please share this video, so maybe we can help him find his way back home. πŸ₯Ή

Meanwhile, our friends at LA Animal Rescue offered to foster him until we figure it out, but you are more than welcome to fill out an adoption application for him. Chances are, the owner will never appear... I've been doing this for a long time now, and it's so rare that they do show up: https://www.LAAnimalRescue.org

He is a really happy dog, playful, cool with other dogs - just a perfect German Shepherd!

It's Valentine's Day, and I hope you will show Hope For Paws some love with a small donation.

If you haven't seen what happened to our office, you can see it here - a complete disaster: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1E8Hqa2SCA/

We're working to rebuild after we lost everything! Computers, cameras, equipment, and furniture. πŸ˜’

If you can, please join us today with a small donation: https://www.HopeForPaws.org/donate

Thank you so much for supporting us and for helping us save so many lives. πŸ’–
